Assets of Saudi investment funds edge down in Q3 2019

The total value of assets held by investment funds in Saudi Arabia saw a marginal decrease to SAR 322.7 billion in Q3 2019, compared to SAR 323 billion a year earlier, data issued by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) showed.

The decline was attributed to a 6% year-on-year (YoY) drop in the total value of assets held by private funds to SAR 185.4 billion in the same period. Private funds accounted for 57.5% of total fund assets in the Kingdom.

The asset value of public investment funds rose 9% YoY to SAR 137.2 billion.

The number of subscribers in Saudi investment funds declined to 337,420 in Q3 2019 from 339,400 in the previous quarter.

In addition, the number of subscribers in public investment funds slipped 1% YoY to 333,320 for the same period.

The value of assets held by money market and equity funds stood at SAR 85.4 billion and SAR 19.9 billion respectively in Q3 2019, representing 77% of total public funds’ assets.
