SDC CEO says first phase of project to be delivered by 2023-end

Soudah Development Co.’s (SDC) chief executive officer (CEO), Husameddin AlMadani, said that the first phase of the company’s project will be delivered by 2023-end.

In an interview with CNBC Arabia, Al-Madani said that the first phase will include the bulk of the development program that will be implemented, whether it is a hotel or leisure option.

He pointed out that the development area will exceed the area of Al Soudah Mountain, indicating that the investment will be in constructing recreational facilities by activating hiking trails and creating distinct camping experiences in nature, in addition to investing in indoor entertainment facilities.

The CEO also stated that the outline of the project will be announced within the next three to four months, pointing out that it will address the details of the nature of hotels, operators and development places.

Al Soudah is connected to the transport network much more than expected, as it is close to Abha International Airport, which will connect it to different international airports, in addition to having a good road network.

AlMadani emphasized that this does not mean that the company will not invest in primary and secondary transport lines to reach a greater number of locations.

On Feb. 24, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Mohammad Bin Salman, launched Soudah Development Co. (SDC) in Asir region, with expected investments of over SAR 11 billion in infrastructure and tourism projects.

SDC’s planned developments include 2,700 hotel rooms, 1,300 residential units, and 30 unique commercial and entertainment attractions. The company also aims to improve the quality of services in the project area, through investing in more than 20 projects worth over SAR 3 billion to develop infrastructure and attract 2 million local and foreign visitors annually by 2030.
