SAGO receives first shipment of SALIC-produced Australian wheat

Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) announced in a statement that its branch in King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam, received the first shipment this year of Australian origin wheat, produced by Saudi Agricultural & Livestock Investment Co. (SALIC).

The shipment of 60,000 tons is part of the contracted amount of 355,000 tons from the company’s investments abroad.

SALIC’s commitment to supply the first shipment of the contracted quantity, in accordance with the schedule, reflects the success of the experience of allocating 10% of the company's wheat purchases to Saudi investors abroad, SAGO Governor Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al-Faris said.

This is the second shipment, after the company supplied a shipment of its investments in Ukraine last year through Jeddah Islamic Port, he noted.

Al-Faris also pointed out that this year will witness the supply of 355,000 tons by SALIC distributed on six ships. Of these, three ships will arrive at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, two ships at Jeddah Islamic Port and one at Jazan Port.

SALIC, owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), established SALIC Australia in 2019 and acquired The Merredin Farms in Western Australia, where it manages and owns an estimated 211,000 hectares of agricultural land, Argaam earlier reported.

The company is active in grain and livestock farming, producing more than 120,000 tons of grains annually.
