Saudi Arabia leads in global digital economy, NEOM platform of innovators: minister

Saudi Arabia topped the list of leading countries in digital economy, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

In his speech to the G20 digital economy ministers' meeting, the Minister said bridging the digital gap globally is the way to achieve inclusiveness and prosperity of societies.

He added that the regulations in the field of innovation should be flexible enough, to stimulate creativity and keep pace with the rapid pace of change that is driven by digital transformation.

The Green Saudi Arabia and Green Middle East initiatives, launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, are an addition to investment in new environment-friendly industries and markets.

NEOM, the largest global platform for innovators, is an ideal example of harmonizing regulation and innovation to achieve the well-being of societies and preserve the environment through the adoption of technology and innovation.

Alswaha expressed his pride in the Kingdom's digital entrepreneurship, which represents an ideal example of the young people's contribution to supporting the economy and building an innovative future.

He considered the innovative solutions in digital health, online education and digital payment as clear evidence of feasible investment in technical and digital transformation.
