Saudi Arabia starts localization of customs clearance, engineering technical jobs today

Saudi Arabia started today, Dec. 30, implementing the decision on Saudization of customs clearance, driving schools, and engineering technical jobs.

The Kingdom also started the first phase of localizing legal advice and law firm jobs, targeting 50% of the jobs. Meanwhile, the second phase will start on Dec. 20, 2022, to raise the Saudization ratio to 70%.

The target jobs include legal advisor for public laws, legal advisor for private laws, contracts specialist, legal affairs clerk, in addition to job opportunities for a trained lawyer. The decision aims to provide more than 5,000 jobs, with a minimum salary of SAR 5,500.

As regards the customs clearance jobs, the procedural guide stipulates that the decision targets 70% of the total number of workers in the establishments operating in the sector.

The decision includes fully localizing the target professions, which include general manager, government relations official, translator, customs clearance clerk, customs agent, and customs clearance broker. The minimum salary of customs clearance employee is SAR 5,000.

As for the engineering technical jobs, the localization ratio reaches 25%, with more than 12,000 jobs targeted and a minimum salary of SAR 5,000.

The decision also includes 100% Saudization of driving schools, with the aim of providing over 8,000 jobs. The minimum salary for a car driving instructor, teaching materials specialist, vehicle traffic controller, and industrial vocational trainer is SAR 5,000.
