Ministry of Communications signs MoU with ATSS, HCL to develop 5G, IoT technologies

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signed today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with both Advanced Telecommunications Solutions Services (ATSS) and HCL Technologies, with the aim of supporting the spread of and benefit from 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
 

The ministry said that the MoU aims to create opportunities in the CIT sector with cognitive and economic returns, including the localization of modern technologies, to further strengthen the Kingdom's position as a regional technological hub, and to build a digital infrastructure that contributes to sustainability and global leadership, Saudi Press Agency reported.
 

According to the MoU, the two sides will work under to assist the ministry in finding experimental work models in the use of IoT technologies supported by 5G networks, as well as developing business models for IoT and 5G usage cases, cooperating on finding opportunities for technological companies, as well as finding investment opportunities and supporting their growth, in addition to developing Wave 4 DX Lap Center for providing IOT-enabled digital transformation programs, and developing and publishing research papers related to the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
 

The MoU includes areas of cooperation related to developing IoT and 5G solutions in various sectors, including 5G and IoT, airports, health, agriculture, transportation, smart cities and homes, energy, industry, and retail, in addition to accelerating knowledge transformation and developing local content through cooperation with ministries, companies, universities and training centers for emerging digital transformation and 5G technologies, in addition to holding workshops on technology for different ministries with the help of HCL's global partners, according to the statement.
