Saudi Airlines says electronics ban on US flights to be lifted

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) said the in-cabin ban on large portable electronic devices (PEDs) on direct flights to the United States will be lifted as of July 19, according to a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

The Kingdom’s flagship carrier is currently working in cooperation with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to implement new security measures required by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which will allow Saudia’s passengers to take large electronic devices, such as laptops and tablets in the cabin on flights to the US.

Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump’s administration imposed a ban on carrying PEDs in carry-on luggage on flights coming in from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and at least six other countries in the Middle East.

Earlier this week, UAE’s Etihad Airlines said that its passengers traveling from Abu Dhabi International Airport to the US will also be able to carry electronics onboard.
