Saudi Arabia awards SAR 2.1 bln water, sewage projects

The National Water Co. (NWC) has awarded 42 projects in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Taif at a total value of SAR 2.1 billion, in line with the Kingdom’s National Transformation Program 2020.

The projects are aimed at improving sewage services in underpenetrated areas and expanding networks and household connections, in addition to completing the first phase of the National Water Strategy in Riyadh.

A total of 20 contracts - 19 sewage projects and one in the water sector - will be undertaken in Riyadh at a total value of more than SAR 720 million.

The projects include sewage networks in Tuwaiq district, Al Aziziyah, and different districts in West and South Riyadh; sewage lines for the Manfouha wastewater treatment plant and Al Haer plant; as well as household connections in AlUraija and Laban districts.

Meanwhile, around 19 projects worth over SAR 1 billion were awarded in Jeddah, including sewage networks and household lines in Southern Central districts as well as Al Naseem, Bin Malek, Al Andalus, Al Hamraa and Al Khalidiya districts.

Three projects will also be developed in Taif at a total value of SAR 326 million.
